An ordinary trip to the Penn Square Mall became extraordinary when 16-year-old junior, Kealey Oliver, a member of Moore High School’s cheerleading squad, tackled a full-grown man. Kealey was on the phone with her mother when she saw the alleged perpetrator running in her direction.
“I was like, ‘Hang on, Mom,’ and I like put the phone down. And when he got close to me, I just got in his way and like grabbed him, and he kept trying to run, so I just slammed him on the ground,” said Kealey. Her maneuver allowed the security time to catch up and apprehend the suspected shoplifter.
By the way, she was wearing a strapless dress at the time of the tackle. She says she was nervous, and if she had thought about it, probably would not have done it. “At first, I thought I was just going to stop him, but he kept running. So, I was like, ‘OK, I guess you’re going to the ground.'”
The humble hero walked away from the incident with a scratch on her arm, a bruise on her knee, and a slew of fans.
